"Saying honestly, Meedovik is not a cake, but an idea of a cake. Because there are so many variations that it's hard to know which one is truer, more traditional, more authentic. People usually go by their own tastes or family recipes. That's why it's so hard to talk about Medovik: even if it is thee one for you, someone might not like it. Not because it's not good, no, but simply because they're used to it differently... I decided to do the same and made Medovik from simple ingredients using the classic recipe. The customers say it's delicious. We believe them and that's the only reason we carry on with our business. It’s good to know that we don't just make any cakes, but the very special ones from our childhood. By the way, do you remember at what age did you first try Honey Cake?" - Pastry chef Tatiana Varlamova.

What kind of cream is in the cake?
The cake features a creamy custard. We craft our cream by incorporating butter, as just a 'custard' cream is typically considered a more affordable variant. It's completely sterile and safe for consumption since it undergoes thermal treatment. Moreover, due to the harmonious combination of cream components, it turns out airy, ensuring that even after indulging in the cake, there's no feeling of heaviness in the digestive system. -
Why does the cake have yesterday's date on it?
According to the Honey Cake recipe, it should be soaked with cream for over 12 hours; otherwise, the layers might turn out dry. We date the cakes immediately after assembly. So, there's no need to worry if our cakes have yesterday's date on them – they are the freshest, well-soaked, natural, and delicious products.
